Most Departmental staffs have strong interactions with private sector organizations that have interest in the research outcomes of the Department. Such relationships provide excellent opportunities for research that could not otherwise be achieved due to resource limitations, and offer the possibility of efficient and direct design of products or technology of significant societal value. The Department will augment existing collaborations with industry and will search for other industrial relationships by appropriate advertising of ongoing research activities. It is expected that enhancement of industrial collaborations will provide additional opportunities for experiential learning and internship opportunities for our students.
Industrial Partnership
Invention to government and the private sector is vital to ensure optimal benefit for society. Industrial partnerships at Makerere University will be an effective mechanism to facilitate formal joint ventures between the private sector and academia. A most effective and efficient approach to implementing key discoveries in society is the interaction of staff members with industrial partners on a daily basis whose research programs are co-defined by the university staff and the industrial partner. The Department will search for opportunities towards this direction.
